An important decision con-
ceming the fate and well being
of Comanche County is about to
be put to a public vote.
Come Aug. 1, voters will be
asked to approve or reject a one-
mill increase to their property tax
to augment the Comanche
County Economic Development
Foundatiorr (CCEDF). Over the
past year, much has appeared in
print urging county residents to
reject this .option.
To us, it's a simple matter of
economics and civic pride.
Since it's inception in Novem-
ber of 1996, CCEDF has consi.s-
tently generated greater county
revenues (via grants, corporate
taxes from new businesses; and
tax credits) and significantly
"enhanced" public works (Wil-
more Community Building, Pro-
tection Township Library, Heri-
tage Park, and Chief Theatre Res-
toration) than it has "added" in
incurred costs.
Now it's apparent that unless
we step forward and embrace
this agency's mission on Aug.
1, we'll undermine numerous on-

time of need. Also, I certainly am
thankful for the prayers offered
up in my behalf. I have truly
seen God's love through His
people.
I appreciate everything that
was and continues to be done
going projects and the future
growth of the county.
An alternative proposal rec-
ommended that volunteers could
handle "such operations."
Whereas volunteers might assist
with "basic functions" in exist-
ing projects, the knowledge,
complexity, commitment, net-
working, and effort required to
submit, write; and procure out-
side grants and tax credits, as
well as aid potential new busi-
ness owners in "coming to" Co-
manche County, demand an of-
rice, person, and county agency
devoted to these very ends.
As for the cost to us, the tax-
payers, a one-mill increase
would add approximately $25/
annually to my home property
tax bill not even the cost of a
single tank of gasoline per year!
Is CCEDF worth that in terms
of all it brings in function and
appearance to the county?
Most certainly!!!
Wouldn't we all agree that
our county would be much less
without Heritage Park, the Wil-
more Community Building and
the new Protection Township Li-
brary. Siml61y put, we can't af-
ford to be without CCEDF!
Don't assume that your vote
doesn't matter! Or that there'll
be plenty of "others" who will
favor this proposal!
Mark it down on your Calen-
dars right now: Aug. 1 and be
sure "to ensure" Comanche
County's future with a "YES"
vote on this all-important propo-
sition!

Dear Friends:
Our lives are forever changed
in one quick moment. The death
of our son-in-law, Rocky Green,
has created an emptiness and"
hole in Qur family that we are not
capable of understanding. What
we do know and understand is
that God is in control and He
promises to work all things for
good for those who love Him and
are called according to His pur-
poses. (Romans 8:28)
We also know that Christ is
stronger than anything we are
going through and we trust Him
for the future. We know that you
also feel the emptiness and are
grieving with us. As Christians,
we mourn, but we do not mourn
as those who have no hope. We
pray for God to bring comfort to
your hearts as well as ours. We
look back and are still stunned
